Honduras decaffeinated by the friendly Swiss Water process, it is a rich and smooth coffee.

The Swiss Water ® method is a completely chemical-free way to remove caffeine from coffee. Caffeine removal is done before roasting, from the green coffee bean.

Caffeine is removed with water, green coffee and activated carbon filter.

First, a green coffee extract is created. It is achieved by mixing green coffee with hot water, extracting all the soluble compounds from the coffee. This water goes through carbon filters where they trap the caffeine. The green coffee used in this first process is rejected.

Through the green coffee extract, without caffeine, temperature and pressure control, the coffee is decaffeinated. The green coffee is immersed in the hot green coffee extract, and by reverse osmosis the caffeine migrates into the water to 100% saturate the water. This water goes through carbon filters to trap the caffeine and the water is reused until it reaches 99.9% free caffeine, a process that lasts between 8 and 10 hours.
